The First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University was founded in 1973, which is a third-class comprehensive hospital integrating medical teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care and first aid. It covers an area of 53 mu and has the total number of beds in the General Hospital 1,500, with 2,538 employees, including 154 senior and 325 deputy senior professional titles; 69 doctors, 389 masters, 1 national chairman designate of Emergency Medicine Branch of Chinese Medical Association, 1 national talent, 1 young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contribution from the Ministry of Health, 7 special State experts, 8 provincial experts, 3 high-level leading talent and 4 high-level talents in Hainan Province, 10 for "515 talent project” in Hainan Province, 2 experts with outstanding contributions in Hainan Province and 6 talents for “South China Sea Series”.

 The hospital has 59 departments, 17 research institutes and 6 research institutes with 2 national key clinical specialties (emergency medicine, Oncology), 2 National Administration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM hepatobiliary disease, acupuncture), 22 provincial key specialties (disciplines), 4 provincial medical centers and 11 provincial medical quality control centers approved. And it also has been selected as the first batch of cancer (digestive system) multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment pilot hospitals, the first batch of painless delivery pilot units, and the first batch of China trauma training ctct provincial base.
